This new, definitive edition of the complete work of master Caribbean poet Aimé Césaire gathers all of Césaire’s celebrated verse into one bilingual edition. The French portion is comprised of newly established first editions of Césaire’s poetic œuvre made available in French in 2014 under the title Poésie, Théâtre, Essais et Discours, edited by A. J. Arnold and an international team of specialists.This book provides a new cornerstone for readers and scholars in 20th century poetry, African diasporic literature, and postcolonial studies. Readings and discussion with Clayton Eshleman and A. James Arnold, who translated the work into English; Brent Edwards, Professor of English and Comparative Literature; Alex Gil, Digital Scholarship Coordinator and Lecturer in English and Comparative Literature; and Rose Réjouis, Associate Professor of Literature at The New School; moderated by Souleymane Bachir Diagne, Chair of the Department of French.
