A graduate of Columbia College, Michael Skelly has been a full-time member of the piano faculty at Columbia since 1985. He has performed in New York at Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Merkin Concert Hall, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, in addition to numerous concerts at Columbia and around the city. He has also given performances at colleges and universities from New Hampshire to California.

In recent years, his recitals have primarily served as fundraisers, most often for children’s and environmental causes, particularly in the mid-Hudson valley where he lives, but the most recent of which was a concert at Columbia in September 2019 with mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra, raising money for RAICES. As public events begin occurring again, he has scheduled a concert in Kingston, NY on October 2, with students from the prestigious Vocal Arts Program at the Bard College Conservatory, and will be participating in an event at the Lincoln Center Library November 22, celebrating the library’s acquisition of the archival materials of his mother, the composer Marga Richter.
