What happens when the life you've worked so hard to build suddenly crumbles? In Things to Come, Oscar nominee Isabelle Huppert, in "a career-best performance" (Jordan Hoffman, Vanity Fair), portrays Nathalie, a philosophy teacher whose life is defined by ideas rather than circumstance, a woman of substance – intellectual, emotional, financial – who faces unexpected constraints and freedoms when her husband of 25 years announces he is leaving her. Nathalie sets out to define this new phase of her life and to rediscover herself. Director Hansen-Løve serves up unapologetic discussions of Rousseau, radicalism and revolution, but there is such rich life in Nathalie’s character that the weight of these ideas often turns to levity and laughter. Winner of the Best Director award at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival.
